What is with boys and their fascination with death? Almost every day I hear one of the big kids (that's what I call the three oldest) say something like "I'm gonna shoot you and you'll be dead!" or "Look at this gun I just built!" At 14 months, Channing would carry a pretend gun around the house saying "Phew, phew". Now, as I'm sitting here, going through my email, I hear Carter through the open window, telling his brothers "Pretend there is a girl named Hannah and she died and we are all sad." Wait... WHAT? Did I just hear him correctly?
I remember when Carter was about two, an older lady told me that I shouldn't let him play with pretend guns. Her reasoning was because "he would grow up and be violent". I looked at her with a serious face and said "Well, we might as well live in a box. Even then, the box would become some sort of weapon. I don't think she was too pleased with that remark. No lie, EVERY.LITTLE.THING is a weapon. Carter makes these huge gun looking things of legos and always has some crazy name for them. Jaxon will take a pretend phone and shoot up the house. Even little figurines are guns. Go figure.
The one thing that my husband and I agree on is telling the kids they have to point whatever object they are using as a weapon towards the wall, ground, or pictures. Not people. They think it's hilarious to shoot the ceiling with the Nerf darts and my ceiling is usually full of them. Sometimes though all hell breaks loose and they start an all out war with each other. Someone always ends up crying and everyone usually ends up in their room. I used to beg the fertility gods for a girl, but now I've come to the realization that even if I had one, she'd be right in on the action.

Starting over
Here it finally is. My new blog. I was over at Snips and Snails, but I decided to change it up a bit. Now, I'm writing about my adventures as a mother to five boys, wife to a military man, and everything in between.
Where should I even start? C- our oldest is going into 3rd grade this year. 3rd grade!? I feel like I was just picking him up from preschool! He's growing up so fast and I don't know how to make it stop!
A- our second son, is starting 1st and will be in full time school. It will be interesting to see how his days go because he was diagnosed with Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD-NOS), Sensory Integration, and Auditory Processing. During kindergarten, he did just fine holding himself together. However, when he got home, the tantrums and meltdowns started. He's been attending OT since we moved here in 2010, and we are moving to every other week. It's amazing how something like that can change a child's life.
C- our third son. What can I say about this little fiery spirit? He's the middle child and is in a constant state of motion. He refuses to potty train at 4 1/2 years old (we've mastered peeing, just not #2), and he loves to get his brothers going. If someone is screaming in the house, it's usually him. I plan on homeschooling him for preschool this year, so any tips are greatly appreciated!
J- Our fourth son. He shares a birthday with his dad and quite frankly, he IS his dad. I swear, if my husband is dealing with an emotion, J is too. I just don't get it. ;)
D- our little surprise. I was told that after using four rounds of fertility drugs with J, having another child would not happen on its own. Low and behold, J was 5 months old and I was knocked up. D decided to make his appearance a month early and J wasn't even walking yet. I really don't know how mothers of twins do it. Props to you, mamas of twins.
Our household doesn't stop there! We have a labradoodle who is female, a bird who is male, and a fish who is male. Who do I think I'm kidding!? I was just meant to be in a house full of boys.

Updates and such
Wow, last time I blogged, I just found out I was pregnant! Well, on the pregnancy note, all is well. I went in for my six week appointment and saw one little bean in there with a heart rate of 120. Fast forward a bit, I'm now 18 weeks and 2 days (my tracker on the last blog is wrong) and so far, so good. Minus me tripping down the stairs today. Don't ask. I don't even know.
We are finally settled in on Cape Cod and boy, I didn't realize the shock we were going to have once we got here. Let me tell you something. Traveling, cross country, for 6 days, with 3 children, being pregnant, is not a very pleasant experience. Brian got to drive the big Penske truck with just the dog, I had all three kids in his F-150, and it was cramped. We hit a major storm in Kansas our first night, then had the truck stop working right in... um... somewhere I don't remember, Illinois maybe?, and then driving through Boston was T.R.I.C.K.Y. We made it in one piece, thankfully, to a four bedroom house, with only one neighbor! FANTASTIC!!!! What we didn't realize is that we'd be in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by nothing, and everything that is anything we need is wayyyy to expensive. We thought about retiring here... HA. Nope, we have been here for about a month and a half and we are already talking of trying to get orders to Florida or Texas. Don't get me wrong, being next to water and closer to family ROCKS, but it's not ideal to raise 4 children here on the income that we have.
Carter is now in first grade, (holy crap!), Aiden is home with me because they don't offer preschool here, and Channing is still Channing. We all miss our friends and Colorado like crazy, but I think it might get a little better once next summer gets here and we can actually get out and do stuff. Oh, and Massholes aren't called Massholes for no reason. THEY SUCK AT DRIVING! Seriously, no one here can use a directional and it's common to ride another car's ass just for no reason. ;) Awwww.... good ol' Massachusetts.
Let me see.... any more new news? Ehhh... probably, but pregnancy brain has got a strong grip on me today. Now that things have calmed down considerably, I really want to get back into the blogging world. I'm pretty sure that I'm going to have another boy, so I'd like to document the rest of this pregnancy, do giveaways, do reviews, all that fun stuff that I love. So this is the boring post, this week should hopefully bring some fun ones. :) I hope all you guys are doing great!!!!!

It's been a long time!!!!
YEP! We are EXPECTING!!!! We are so excited. Last month I miscarried really early on, so this pregnancy came as a surprise 3 weeks later! I think that it's another boy, but the hubby really wants a girl. We'll see around November/December!!!!
Three more weeks until we move! It's been really crazy trying to get everything in order! I am so excited to be near family and I'm ready to go. It can't get here fast enough!
This post is going to be short today because I'm supposed to be doing homework. OOOPPS. Slacking. ;)
I hope all is great with all of you and I'll start blogging again regularly!!!

Old ladies, babies, and marriage
Driving downtown today, Carter asks me...
"Mommy, can old ladies have babies?"
I nearly got in a head-on collision. (Not really, but it totally could have happened)
"No, Carts, they can't."
"Why not?"
"Well, because, uh, mommy's have this thing."
"What type of thing Mom?"
"It's called a period and old ladies don't have that."
"What's a period?"
*chokes* "Uh...um... it's when a mommy bleeds a little once a month."
"Mommy's bleed?"
"Uh...um.....yeah. But it's not a bad thing. It just means you can have a baby. Old ladies can't have that."
"Oh... OK!"
Thank GOD that was the end of that conversation. How awkward. I was NOT (and still am not) ready to explain that to my son.
Then Carter proceeds to start this conversation...
"Hey Mom, did you know that boys marry girls and girls marry boys?"
"Yes, I did. Boys can also marry boys and girls can also marry girls." (I'm trying to raise my children tolerant of everyone... so I'm sorry if you don't agree with me telling him that)
"No way Mom."
"Yes, actually they can. It's all about who you love Carter."
"Wow. Well, I think Aiden is going to marry Tristan." *giggle, giggle*
Aiden: "NO I'M NOT!"
"Ok, you're not, but you're going to marry SKKKKYYYLLLLAAAARRRRR." (My friend's daughter)
Aiden: *giggle, giggle*
I was so glad when that converstion was done too! I just don't feel like I'm ready for the big talks yet.
For the mommy's that did have to have the "serious" talks, when did your kids start asking? What was the easiest way to talk about it, but not be too graphic?

Whoa. It's been a while.
Yes, I know. I really slacked off this time. But we have been sooo busy!
I now bumped my classes up to two classes at once. I'm thinking it might be a little harder than I expected. We'll see though. I'll let you know in a few weeks. :)
Big news #1.
WE.ARE.MOVING! Yes, ladies and gents (if there are any gents reading this blog) we got DREAM orders! We are moving to Cape Cod the second week in August! I was telling my husband, "Well, aren't you glad that I threw a tantrum everytime they pulled orders for us to crazy places like Japan?" Thanks to me and my tantrums, we didn't have to move a full day ahead of everyone. Thank GOD! I would have lost my mind being over there.
But now, we get to go to beautiful Cape Cod...

(This is NOT my picture, just one I found online)
Looking at this picture... well, it's like coming home. Both my husband and I have dreamed of this day for the last 8 years.
I am sooo excited to be moving, but then I have my days that I think "I can't do this. Colorado is all I've known for the past 7 years" I am going to miss my friends terribly. I have my nights that I just want to stay here, but I know I can't. I know where my heart belongs, and unfortunately, it's not here.
We will be 5 hours... yes, 5 hours, from our family. 2 and a half hours from my Grandma. My children will finally be able to see their grandparents more than once every 2 1/2 years. I.CAN'T.WAIT!
Big News #2.
I have been strongly debating if I wanted to go public with this or not, but I think I'm going to. Remember in my last post how I was writing that we are having one hell of a time getting pregnant? Well, I finally found a doctor who is listening. And it is such a relief.
I went in for an appointment and I told the doctor about what was going on with my cycles and how they were anywhere from 29-41 days long. Yeah. A little nuts. I told her that my husband and I really want to have another baby, but for whatever reason... it's not happening. She said "Well, I'm going to start you on Femara (more in a minute) because it is NOT normal that your cycles are that out of whack."
Femara is a drug that is used to treat breast cancer patients. Well, from what I have found, many of these patients were getting pregnant with this medication, so they have now decided to use it as a fertility medication too. It helps regulate your cycle and it's a lot like Clomid, just without all the nasty side effects. I just started it two days ago... I have three days left... then it's time to do the baby dancing. ;) The doctor believes that I have PCOS (it is a common misconception that women that have had children before CAN'T get it, but they can). We are going to try three rounds of Femara. If this doesn't work, we are going to do tons and tons of testing to see what is going on. I will NOT give up. I so desperately want another baby (knowing this will be the last) and I am willing to do whatever it takes. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it works within the three month time frame, but if not, I have got to keep telling myself... "If it's meant to be, it will happen."
Well, it's getting late and I have tons of school work to do, so I'm going to say goodnight everyone and I will keep you all updated on the future events and future news that we may have. :)

Updates and such
It seemed like when Brian was deployed, I had all the time in the world to blog. Now, I feel like I barely can do anything because now, once I put the kids to be, the hubby needs his attention. Yes, somedays I feel like I'm a mother to not only 3 children, but 4. Hehehhe.
I got bored today and went through old stuff I had posted on Facebook. I found an interview that I did with Carter and Aiden and redid it with them. Except this time I asked about daddy. One of Carter's answers had me almost peeing my pants.
What is your Dad not very good at?
Carter's response: aliens vs predators because he always gets bited and dead by the aliens.
I think Daddy would be a little upset at the negativity towards his video game skills. ;)
I then asked Aiden how old he thought I was.
Um.... Hmmmm..... 7.
Really? That was a long, LONG time ago son. I haven't been 7 for a while now. HAHAH!
One of the old answers that I got from Aiden when asked what I like to do for fun was:
To make Chan Chans
Yes, I do believe I liked that :)
*Chan Chans is what we call Channing.*
It just cracks me up what kids say. I wish that I could write down an entire book for each of them filled with the funny things they have said.
Aside from all the funny things they have said, life here at the Marshall house has been pretty normal. I have bumped up my school work to 2 classes a month. I would love to get my degree a lot sooner, so we'll see how this goes.
As some of you may know, we have been trying for baby number 4. We started in January last year, had to stop in May (Brian deployed) and started up again the minute he got home. I am getting pretty discouraged to say the least. Why does it seem that when you want to get pregnant, everyone else in the world is, by accident? I try to be happy for my friends, but inside, it hurts. I long to hold another baby in my arms. It makes me feel like I'm being selfish for even asking for anymore, but I don't feel like I'm done. It just seems unfair.
Channing took us 2 1/2 years to get pregnant with. We never used birth control after having Aiden and it was the worst 2 1/2 years of waiting... ever. We had an appointment set for the second week in August of 2007 to see fertility specialists and a week before we had to go, I found out I was pregnant. This time around, I'm terrified it's going to take that long again. I went to the doctors and the doctor that I saw said "Because you already have three children, I'm never going to consider you infertile. You'll just have to keep going until you get pregnant." What kind of doctor says that?
There is something called secondary infertility. It is classified as becoming infertile after one or more births. My cycles (TMI) are completely out of whack. My shortest cycle was 29 days and my longest was 40. So that means, if we want to get pregnant, we need to pretty much have sex every other day for the entire month. Many of my ovulation predictor tests have never become positive while others show positive signs for two weeks! I've done the charting thing, the BBT thing, and even that's not showing anything. I just hope that this stops soon and we can welcome another baby into our home.
For any of you that have had a hard time getting pregnant, was there anything you did? Anything you did to keep your spirits up about it?
